The campaign to improve working conditions in factual TV continues
Following two years of negotiations, a draft collective agreement has been negotiated between Cineflix and the Factual Television Joint Council! Present on behalf of the council were representatives from CWA Canada, IATSE, and workers from the factual TV industry. The collective agreement forms part of the proposed settlement to the class action lawsuit filed against Cineflix in 2018.
The proposed settlement in the class action lawsuit against Cineflix marks a real turning point in our campaign to improve working conditions for factual TV workers and we are excited to share more details about it.

Entertainment unions CWA Canada, IATSE, ACTRA and DGC are
calling on the federal government to extend EI supports to all workers
impacted by the pandemic, including the many workers in our sector who
are not classified as employees. The following letter was just sent to
the Minister of Health and the Minister of Employment, Workforce
Inclusion, Disability Inclusion.
The CWA Canada/IATSE Fairness in Factual TV Campaign is seeking assurances from Kew Media Group that it will deal fairly with the dozens of showrunners, writers, editors and other crew as it struggles with a strategic review of its assets and financial reporting difficulties.
Over the last few months, over 100 workers filled out a survey to help identify priorities for future negotiations with productions companies that will set industry standards for things like minimum pay rates, hours of work and fair practices for hiatuses and terminations.
